When you sponsor a turtle, you’re making a direct impact on their recovery. Your monthly contribution helps cover critical care such as medication, food, habitat upkeep, and long-term Scaletuary needs for turtles who cannot be released.

This is a symbolic sponsorship—no turtles are transferred or rehomed to you. Instead, you’ll be virtually “adopting” one to support through their healing journey.

A female red ear slider is approx 5 years old, taken from the wild and has second degree burns from owner neglect. Tammy is feisty, fearless, and unstoppable when it comes to surviving. She’s a fighter in every sense of the word, and she’s not giving up. Neither are we.

A female sulcata tortoise, estimated 15-20 years old. Permanent education ambassador for The Kentuckiana Scaletuary. She was found wandering the streets of downtown Louisville in the middle of winter, far from the warm, dry climate sulcatas need to survive. After searching for her potential owner, no one claimed her. Despite her rough start, she radiates confidence and charm, reminding people just how big a personality can come in a slow-moving shell.

Count Shellula

Don’t worry — this spooky shelled friend isn’t after your blood, just your strawberries! Count Shellula earned his name thanks to his mysterious nighttime wanderings and his fang-tastic snapping reflexes. While he’s not scaring villagers in Transylvania, he’s busy scaring lettuce leaves here at the Scaletuary.

Despite his tough, gothic persona, Shellula has a soft side — especially when it comes to basking under his heat lamp like it’s a coffin lid cracking open at dusk. Sponsoring Count Shellula helps us provide him with medical care, healthy meals, and a safe place to live out his days without the threat of wooden stakes (or speeding cars).
